Donald Garcia served as Mayor in 2009 and Mayor Pro Tem in 2008. He has served on the council since being appointed by the City Council on March 1, 2007.

Donald is a member in good standing with the California State Bar. He has past and/or current affiliations with several professional organizations, which include the Hispanic Bar Association, Orange County Trial Lawyers, the Orange County Bar Association and the Consumer Attorneys of California. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Donald held the position as Vice President of a leading arbitration and mediation company. He has been a practicing attorney for more than 14 years.

Donald's community involvement and emphasis for keeping a pulse on Aliso Viejo's affairs has grown throughout his 16 years in town. In 2000, he was appointed architectural chairman of his neighborhood subdivision. In 2002, he was appointed to the City's Development Review Committee (DRC) and served for three years.

Donald represents the City as a board member for the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA).

Donald proudly served in the US Army 101st Airborne Division and overseas the City's annual Veterans Appreciation Program. He has been married for 15 years and has four children. During his free time, Donald and his lovely wife, Toni, juggle sports with their kids, which includes basketball and baseball with their oldest son; football, basketball and baseball with their youngest son; and volleyball with their daughter.
