City of Aliso Viejo
Greg Ficke, Council Member
Biography - 2008

A founding father of Aliso Viejo, Greg was elected to serve on the City's first City Council when Aliso Viejo incorporated on July 1, 2001. He was re-elected, with the highest number of votes, to serve on the Council in 2004.

Greg is a licensed commercial real estate broker and a director in Cushman & Wakefield's Irvine office, specializing in tenant representation, landlord representation and corporate services. Greg is a member of The Urban Land Institute (ULI); The National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP); and CoreNet Global, the world's leading professional association for corporate real estate executives. He is a specialist in Green Building techniques and Leadership for Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. Greg is also founder and chairman of the Aliso Viejo Business Council (AVBC), which is dedicated to supporting and promoting the Aliso Viejo business community. Greg's professional career complements his philosophy of the importance of economic vitality and working to attract businesses to Aliso Viejo.

Greg represents the City of Aliso Viejo as an alternate board member for the San Joaquin Transportation Corridor Agencies (TCA), as well as the Transportation Corridor System (TCS). He serves as vice-chair of the Orange County Library Task Force. The task force is charged with providing library resources to the community and making the library system more functional for residents' daily lives. Greg is a member of the South Orange County Regional Chambers of Commerce and Irvine Chamber of Commerce.

Greg is a recognized leader and served as past board member for the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) and President of the Saddleback College Foundation. He attended the Orange County Leadership Academy. Greg is a Professional Services Reserve deputy for the Orange County Sheriff's Department where he volunteers time and training to assist with major disaster responses.

Concerned with the community's health, well-being and longevity, Greg was actively involved in the grass-roots efforts to stop an airport at El Toro. He worked as an integral committee member in the development of the Aliso Viejo General Plan and serves on the ad-hoc committees for schools, Iglesia Park and AV Ranch. He is a compassionate individual who is well-known, throughout the community and beyond, for his emphasis on public safety, education and ensuring that the City works for everyone. Throughout the years, he has continued to contribute time and money to a number of local organizations, charities and worthwhile causes. He has worked with the Boys & Girls Scouts of America, AYSO, American Cancer Society, United Way, AV Little League, TIP, Trails4All, and spent time as a CUSD “Principal for a Day” in our local schools.

Greg worked hard to put himself through school and holds a BA in Marketing and a MBA in International Business from California State University, Fullerton. Greg has lived in town for more than 14 years. He and his wife, Julie, chose to live in Aliso Viejo for its outstanding schools, location and friendly community. The couple has two children who attend local public schools and are involved in an array of community and sports programs. During his free time, Greg enjoys spending quality time with his family and attending community events.
